ADVANCED SKIN SPECIALIST

Amy is an Advanced L4 Laser & Skin Specialist using therapy called Cold Atmospheric Plasma (CAP). Assisting with the healing from inflammatory skin conditions such as ; Acne, Ecezma, Psoriasis and Topical Steroid withdrawal. Specialising in scalp rejuvenation to treat clients suffering from Alopecia Areata & hair transplant clients post surgery recovery.

Cold Atmospheric Plasma (CAP) is a partially ionised gas composed of ions, electrons, neutral particles, reactive species, and electromagnetic fields. It operates at room temperature and is generated under atmospheric pressure, distinguishing it from high-temperature plasmas like those found in fusion reactors or stars.

MEET AMY

Amy will be based at The NorthWest Wellbeing Hub every Tuesday offering specialist skin and scalp treatments. Following her own healing skin journey post topical steroid withdrawl and has completely transformed her skin with the help from Cold Atmospheric Plasma (CAP).

" I am so excited to bring this technology and innovative treatment to The NorthWest Wellbeing Hub, I have experienced first hand how beneficial this treatment is for inflammatory skin issues. I can't wait to help many others on their healing journey towards calmer and pain free skin."

SKIN HEALTH

Cold Atmospheric Plasma (CAP) is increasingly being used in dermatology and skincare for its non-invasive and multifunctional properties. Its ability to generate reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (ROS and RNS) at low temperatures makes it effective for various skin treatments, from cosmetic to therapeutic applications.

Applications of CAP in Skin Treatments:

1. Wound Healing: CAP promotes faster wound healing by stimulating fibroblast proliferation, enhancing collagen synthesis, and improving blood flow. • It also provides an antimicrobial effect, reducing the risk of wound infections.

2. Skin Rejuvenation and Anti-Aging: CAP enhances the skin’s regenerative processes by stimulating cell proliferation and collagen production.• It reduces wrinkles, fine lines, and uneven skin tone by promoting a more youthful appearance.

3. Acne Treatment: CAP inactivates Propionibacterium acnes, the bacteria responsible for acne, through its antimicrobial properties.• It reduces inflammation and promotes the healing of acne lesions.

4. Eczema and Psoriasis: CAP helps reduce inflammation and oxidative stress in chronic skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.• It can alleviate symptoms and improve skin barrier function.

5. Scar Reduction: By stimulating skin regeneration, CAP reduces the appearance of scars, including surgical scars, acne scars, and keloids.

6. Skin Disinfection:• CAP provides an effective, painless, and non-invasive way to disinfect the skin, making it useful before surgeries or cosmetic procedures.

7. Treatment of Skin Infections: CAP is highly effective against bacterial, fungal, and viral skin infections, even antibiotic-resistant strains like MRSA.

8. Melasma and Hyperpigmentation:  CAP can lighten hyperpigmentation and melasma by promoting skin renewal and reducing melanocyte activity.

HAIR HEALTH

Cold Atmospheric Plasma (CAP) is emerging as a promising non-invasive treatment for hair rejuvenation and scalp health. By leveraging its bioactive properties, CAP can stimulate hair growth, improve scalp health, and address conditions like hair thinning or alopecia.

Mechanisms of Action for Hair Rejuvenation:

1. Stimulation of Hair Follicles: CAP activates dormant or inactive hair follicles by increasing blood circulation and oxygen supply to the scalp.• It promotes the proliferation of dermal papilla cells, which are crucial for hair follicle growth.

2. Boosting Cellular Regeneration: CAP stimulates fibroblast activity, enhancing the production of extracellular matrix components like collagen and elastin. These create a supportive environment for hair follicle health.

3. Enhanced Delivery of Active Ingredients: CAP temporarily disrupts the skin’s outer barrier (stratum corneum) without damaging it, improving the penetration of hair growth serums or topical medications.

4. Anti-Inflammatory Effects: CAP reduces inflammation on the scalp, creating a healthier environment for hair growth and reducing conditions like folliculitis or dandruff.

5. Antimicrobial Properties: CAP eliminates bacteria, fungi, and other pathogens on the scalp that could contribute to hair loss or unhealthy hair growth.

6. Oxidative Stress Modulation:  CAP-generated reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (ROS and RNS) induce mild oxidative stress that triggers cellular repair and regeneration, beneficial for hair follicle stimulation.

Applications in Hair Rejuvenation:

1. Hair Loss Treatment:  Useful for androgenetic alopecia, alopecia areata, and telogen effluvium.• Stimulates new hair growth and reduces hair shedding.

2. Scalp Health Improvement:  Treats dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, and infections that can impede healthy hair growth.• Cleanses the scalp and improves hydration.

3. Post-Hair Transplant Support:  CAP accelerates healing and enhances the survival of transplanted hair follicles.

4. Anti-Aging for Hair Follicles: Improves the longevity and vitality of aging hair follicles, leading to thicker and stronger hair strands.
